Recording sessions for "Sub" began in June 1998 at Trident Studios in London with producer Roli Mosimann (Björk, Marilyn Manson, Gravity Kills, Faith No More), and further work on the album was subsequently carried out at EastSide Sound Studios in New York, at a variety of studios in Switzer-land, and at Nomis Studios in London. A number of guest musicians also participated in the sessions.
The second half of 1999 was primarily used to conduct additional mixes of the album's key songs. Of these new versions, "Reefer Boy" in a remix by John Fryer (Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, HIM) and "Dweller" in a remix by APOLLYON SUN themselves were eventually chosen to appear on the album, alongside material mixed by Roli Mosimann. The last mix ("Dweller") was completed and handed in on October 1, 1999, and the finished album was then mastered by Simon Heyworth at Chop Em Out in London, on November 19 and 27, 1999.
